FUNCTION KEYS
OPTIONS
REPORTS
The Child Protective Services application automates the abuse/neglect incident intake, investigation, and treatment processes. It
handles data generated from the initial report and developed as the investigation and treatment phases proceed. A Worker can key
incident information directly into the system. From data stored in the system workers can prepare the state DSS-5104 form.
The intake worker adds all incident reports to the system's database, marking the report with codes to indicate findings of the
investigation.
BENEFITS
Incident Data available immediately to all authorized DSS personnel.
As soon as the data gathered about the incident is keyed, it is immediately available to all authorized workers and supervisors. All
authorized personnel see the same information about the incident with no time lags. The information available includes the name
and addresses of victims and perpetrators, directions to the home, times and dates of the incident, detailed allegation notes, and
much more.
Online access to Prior Incidents
Your workers -- intake, investigation, or treatment -- have online access to the history of prior incidents for victims, perpetrators, or
reporters.
Case history of activities
As a case goes through the intake, investigation, and treatment phases, the system creates and stores a trail of activities or actions
taken by DSS personnel, including copies of letters printed through the system. From this electronic case history, DSS personnel
can prepare a hard-copy of actions taken by the agency for use in court or other appropriate venues. DSS supervisors can define and
store standardized processes to improve training and to ensure conformance to agency procedures.
Automatic preparation of forms and letters
DSS personnel can prepare forms and letters themselves using the integrated forms generator or can create data for merging with
AS/400 or PC-based word processors such as WordPerfect or Word. This capability reduces word processing department labor and
improves the quality, consistency, and timeliness of written communication.
Reporting and statistical analysis
There are many standard statistical and management reports available. In addition, DSS personnel can query the CPS data base for
one-time analyses for use in preparing grant applications or board reviews. In most cases, agency management will have data for
decision-making unavailable or too costly to pull out of manual systems.
