Step 4: Refer the Incident


The ‘Refer Incident’ window should appear on the screen.
Type the ‘Service to Receive Referral’ field.
Use the F8=Lookup key if necessary.
Be sure to key the appropriate ‘Provider’ then press Enter to list to valid Services.
Type the ‘Worker to Receive Referral’ field.
Use the F8=Lookup key if necessary.
Be sure to key the appropriate ‘Provider’,
then press Enter to list to valid Worker IDs.
The Provider of the ‘Service’ and ‘Worker’ must be the same.
Press Enter.
A message will appear on the screen of the receiving worker.
The ‘Work with Incidents’ selection screen will appear.


The program gives the intake worker the opportunity to refer the incident to another worker for comment – before the decision is made to assign the incident to an investigations worker.

The referral message
The worker to whom the incident is referred will receive a break message. If the worker is signed on to the AS/400 server, the message will appear on the screen immediately. The worker should press Enter to restore the screen prior to the break message.

The referral activity
The worker to whom the referral is made will also find an activity in her activity window. To access these activities, go to menu 21 and access the “Work with Case Activities” program.
