howto: Validate a Worker Sign On
This program validates the ONECase password assigned to the worker. The purpose of the ONECase password is to insure that the
person seeking access to a ONECase program is authorized to use ONECase.
The program actually performs two checks. First, it validates that you are set up as a ONECase worker. Actually, it checks to see
that the same User ID you used to sign on to the AS/400 exists as a Worker ID in the ONECase Worker file. For example, if your
AS/400 User ID is ‘JIMS’, the program looks for a ‘JIMS’ in the Worker file. Second, it checks the ONECase password you keyed.
Remember that the ONECase password is not the same as the AS/400 Sign On password. The worker should key the password
into the field indicated.
Only once a day
The program presents the ‘Validate Worker ID Password’ screen once a day -- the first time that you run a ONECase program.
Once ONECase validates you for a given day, it will not bother you again until the next day. Actually, ONECase may occasionally
ask you to validate your ONECase password more than once a day. If it does, don’t worry about it -- just key the password and
move on.
Match the password defined in the Worker record
The password you key must match the password defined in your Worker record as defined in the ONECase Worker file. You should
key the ONECase password, not your Worker ID. The program will compare the password defined in the Worker record.
The password must match the ONECase password and the password must not have expired. If the password you key does not
match, the program presents an error message and prompts you to re-key password. Read the red messages at the bottom of the
screen. Ultimately, the validation program gives up and locks your Worker record. When this happens, you must ask your system
administrator or unit co-ordinator to give you a temporary password. The temporary password is also called a default password.
You will not be able to use ONECase until you validate your password properly. Going to another workstation does not work.
If the password is correct and current, the program grants access to the requested option.
Changing your ONECase password
If your ONECase password has expired -- or you are using the default password -- you must key another ONECase password. A
second line will appear on the ‘Validate’ screen. Key the new password.
The new password can be the same any of the three previous passwords. It must not start with a number.
