Step 7:
Search by Last Name and First Name
Since you do not know the visitor’s Social Security Number,
Key the visitor's Last Name and First Name.
The Last Name must be exact.
The First Name may be the beginning letter(s) -- that it can be a partial name.
The more data you key, the more restrictive the search will be.
Do not key Title, Suffix, Known As, or any of the other fields.
Do not press Enter -- at least not yet!

DECISION TIME: Search Log or Person file?
Since you do not know the visitor’s Person Number, you must search for it in
the database. If you do not find a Person Number for the visitor, you must add
one to the database.
You can search either the Log for previous entries or the Person file.
The program will use search variables that you have just keyed -- that is, it
will use the Social Security Number or the First/Last Names.
Search previous log entries? Go to back to Step 7.
Search Person file? Go to Step 8.
Hint: You might want to search the log if you know that the visitor has
been in the agency before. Searching the electronic log can save time.
