Can I translate Race Codes for the different state
systems?
According to the state Day Care manual, the valid state codes in the Day Care system are: A=Asian, B=Black, H=Hispanic,
I=American Indian, or W=White. Race codes in other state systems are different. Since ONECase stores all the data about a
person in one screen, how can I send the code one system wants if I store it for another?
RESPONSE
Here's how. Your System Administrator can set up translation tables.
Go to menu 18. Access option 15.
On the selection screen, key 'CDCR' for 'State Provider ID'.
Leave 'Standard Code Provider' blank.
Type 'RC' for 'Standard Code Type'.
Position the cursor on 'Standard Code Value' and press F8=Lookup.
The list of Race codes will appear.
Select the code you want to translate.
Back on the selection screen, type the code you want to translate it to.
Update by pressing Enter twice.
For example, you can ask ONECase to translate a Race Code of 'AH' (Asian/Pacific Islander with Hispanic) to 'A' for Asian when it
sends the data to the State Interface.
That's all there is to it. The Race Code errors on the State Interface should go away.
