Can you tell me if the Day Care number referred to in previous messages is the same as the SIS #
which is the 11 digit number beginnning with 200? If you aren't sure, do you have an example of
what OneCase refers to as the Day Care number? We want to be certain the information we are
putting into the system is correct prior to obtaining the download from the state.
RESPONSE
The DCS Number is the number by which the State Day Care System knows a
child in subsidized day care. The State EIS, FSIS, and Services systems
have a unique number for a child or client. So does the Day Care
system.
Mr. Cox looked at the DCS Numbers data in Guilford, New Hanover, and
Child Care Resources here in Charlotte. He says that all but 2 or 3
children have a DCS Number beginning with '200'. He also says that some
people call the number a DCS ID or DCD ID. Its all the same NUMBER.
By the way, I am told by people in Guilford that the DCS Number is the
same as the SIS Number for most children -- at least those who became
clients recently. I don't know what recently means.
