Step 3: Search for an Existing Application
Before you add a new placement application, you should check the database to ensure that the applicant or children are not already
included in an existing placement application. You need to search all Programs since there may be an application for the applicant
or one of the children in another Program.
Provider * CWS
Application Number * _______ (leave blank for New Application)
Person Number * _________
Position the cursor on the Application Number field and press the F8=Lookup* key. The program will
display the ‘Lookup Placement Application’ screen.
Search by either of the fields on the screen that appears. Naturally, the most direct search field is the Person Number. If you know
the Person Number, key it into the field and press Enter. The program will either show the applications that already exist for the
person or display a message saying that an application does not exist for the Person Number you keyed.
If you do not know the child’s Person Number, use the Lookup Person Number program. Position the cursor on the Person Number
field, then press F8=Lookup.
If you know the placement application number and want to show each child placed under that application, place the cursor on the
Application Number field and press F8=Lookup.
Search each member of the placement household -- the applying parent and each child.
When you are satisfied that no Person record exists for each child in the placement case, press F3 to return to the Selection
screen.
