Step 3: Key the Person Number of the head of household


You should be on the “Work with Family Groups” sub-menu.
Key a ‘1' to select the ‘Create a Family Household Unit’ option.
Press Enter. 
The ‘Work with Family Groups’ screen will appear.
Key the Person Number.

Lookup the Person Number, if you do not know the number.
The cursor should be on the ‘Person Number of Head of Household’ field.
Press the ‘F8=Lookup*’ key.
Read ‘howto: Lookup a Person Number’ for more information.

Press Enter.
The ‘Family Index’ screen will appear.
You are now ready to add additional members to the family.
Go to Step 4.

WARNING
At this moment you have not actually created a family unit or index yet.
You will create the unit when you press Enter on the ‘Family Index’ screen,
After you are finished adding members.

Key the Person Number of the head of household. If you do not know the head of household or the Person Number, position the cursor on the field and press F8 to access the lookup function.

Once you have identified the head of household, the program displays the ‘Family Index’ screen. From this screen, you can either add another member to the household by pressing the F6 function or change data about a member by selecting the member with an 'X' and pressing Enter.

If you select a member to maintain, the program presents a screen similar to the one shown below. You can deactivate a member, reactivate a member, or simply change the relationship of the member to the head of household.
