Step 2: Search the Family database


Key a ‘2' to select the ‘Maintain an Existing Family Household Unit’ option.
Press Enter. 
The ‘Work with Family Groups’ screen will appear.
Press the ‘F8=Lookup*’ key.
The ‘ Lookup Family Group’ screen will appear.
Key the Person Number of the head of household
OR
Key all or part of the head of household’s Last Name and First Name.
Press Enter.
A list of families may appear.
It is a list of heads of household who meet the criteria.
Scan the list for the person you are seeking.
If you do not find the Person, leave the lookup program – a family does not exist.
Press F12, press F3=Exit.
Go to Step 3.

If you find the head of household in the list, 
Press F12, press F3=Exit.

If you are unsure, select any likely candidate by keying a ‘X’ next the person, press Enter.
Confirm that the family does in fact exist.
Press F12, then F3=Exit – a family already exists.

The lookup function is a quick way to find out whether a person is already defined as a member of a family and, if so, to show all the members of the household. The search parameter offers flexible way to find the head of household. The name parameter can be full or partial names.

Keying the search parameters may yield a list similar to the one shown below. It is a list of heads of household who meet the criteria. Find the person you are seeking in the list and select him with an 'X'.

You can also simply key the Person Number, if you know it.
