howto: Set the Program Flags
Press the 'F5=PgmFlgs' key.
A small window will appear, showing a list of programs.
Type 'Y' next to the item to turn the flag 'ON'.
Type 'N' next to the item to turn the flag 'OFF'.
Press Enter.
ONECase uses program flags to display the questions required for specific assistance programs. These program flags determine
whether a questions appears during the interview. The flags also control the printing of questions on the statement hard copy, the
matches, and the totals on the F16 Financial Summary screen.
At any point the the interview you may change the program flags. Press the F5=PgmFlgs function key to display the window. If a
change is called for, make it. Key a 'Y' or 'N' and press Enter. If no change is required, press Enter and no damage will be
done. You may also press the F12=Cancel key which returns you to the previous screen without updating the flags.
Once the flags are set, you may change them at any time and they are immediately in effect. Once you have changed the flag
values, they determine the course of the interview until you change them again. For this reason, we recommend that you make a
practice of periodically reviewing the settings.
In the example below, the program will present only those questions marked in the electronic question file as being necessary for
Food Stamps and Family/Childrens Medicaid applications.

Here's how program flags work
You agency maintains an electronic file in ONECase of all the questions which must be asked for all assistance programs -- that is,
Food Stamps, Adult Medicaid, Work First, Special Assistance, and Family/Childrens Medicaid. Each question is marked with a
flag indicating whether that question must be asked for a given assistance program. For example, if question
'A' is supposed to be asked only for Food Stamps applications, the question will appear during the interview only if the Food Stamp program flag is set to
'Y'. If you set the flag to 'N', question 'A' will not appear during the interview, will not print on the hard-copy, will not be included
in the Financial Summary figures, and so on.
Imagine that a person is applying only for Food Stamps. Let's say that there are 100 separate Food Stamps questions of all kinds --
income, assets, shelter, etc. Setting the program flag to 'Y' for Food Stamps tells the computer program to ask only those
questions required for a Food Stamp application.
IF YOU BELIEVE THAT THE SYSTEM IS NOT ASKING ALL THE NECESSARY QUESTIONS, CHECK THE
PROGRAM FLAGS.
