howto: Create a ONECase Case
Check for an existing Case.
Type the Provider Code, press Enter.
If a number appears to the right of the Provider,
a case in that Provider already exists for the applicant.
Go to Step 8.
If a number does not appear, a case does not already exist.
Create the new Case.
Type 'S' beside the member who will be the client.
Usually the applicant (***) will be the client.
Type 'C' next to the member(s) who will be members in the Case.
Press F10=Cases.
A small window will appear.
Type the Service you want to open for the applicant.
Use the F8=Lookup* feature if you do not know the code.
Type the Worker ID of the case worker.
Use the F8=Lookup* feature if you do not know the worker's ID.
Press Enter.
In a few seconds, a number will appear next to the Provider code.
You have created a case.
Access the newly created ONECase case.
Press F10=Cases to go to the 'Work with Cases' screen.
Press F3=Exit to return to the 'Define Household' screen.
Use the F10 function key on the Define Household screen to create a new case in the ONECase client index. This is a very
important step. It enables you to access all those functions available on the 'Work with
Cases' program.
One of the most important functions you can execute from the 'Define Household' screen is the creation of a ONECase case. The
Case Number is not the CS Statement Number. It is theoretically possible, perhaps likely, that there may be more than one case
created as a result of taking an application for public assistance.

In example shown above, a worker has
created a case under the Income Maintenance provider 'IM'. The Case Number is '13'. If there is no case number showing in this
space, no case exists for the applicant in the provider shown. To create or access a case in another provider, change the Provider
Code and press Enter. If a case does exist, the Case Number will display to the right of the Provider. If no case exists,
no Case Number will appear in the field.
Check for an existing Case
Type the Provider Code, press Enter. If a number appears to the right of the Provider, a case in that Provider already exists for the
applicant. Go to Step 8. If a number does not appear, a case does not already exist.
If the '+' beside the ONECase Number is highlighted, more than one case exists for the Provider and Person.
Create the new Case
In the example shown, a case 'IM-13' already exists. If it did not, here's how you would create it. First, identify the member who is
the client in the case. Usually, the client is the applicant or payee. Key an 'S' in the S column next to each member who is a client. Key a 'C' next to each member who is a member of the case but is
not a client. You need not include all household members in the case. After selecting the members in this way, press the
F10=Cases key.

The system will display a window requesting the Service you want to set up and the Worker through whom the service is provided.
Key those values, then press Enter.

The system will create the case. A number will appear next to the Provider code on the
'Define Household' screen. For more information about "Work with Cases", read the guide.
Access the newly created ONECase case
The case will be opened with a status of 'OPEN' for the Service you specified. Usually, the status 'OPEN' means that the service is
being provided. Since you are probably still in the application phase, you may want to change the status to something like 'APL' or
'PND'. Your agency will have to give instructions about what to do.
Once the case is created, you can access "Work with Cases" by pressing the F10=Cases on this screen. By the way, you can
also access the case by keying a 'C' in the S column next to the applicant and pressing Enter.
