howto: Define the CPS Standard Codes

Go to Menu 54.
Review and update each Standard Code type.

ONECase Standard Codes is a single table used for validation of codes. The codes are defined by your county or required by ONECase. The individual entries consist of a Code and a Description -- no dollar values, no percentages, etc. ONECase uses the same maintenance program to add, change, delete, or view entries in the table. Likewise, it uses the same listing program for all code types. ONECase uses Standard Codes to validate codes keyed into screens throughout the system and to provide 25-characters of description for reports and displays.

You access individual codes from the Standard Codes menu(s) associated with individual ONECase modules. The list of Standard Codes grows as the ONECase product itself adds functions.

Even though there are many Standard Codes now definable in ONECase, each code is processed the same way. That is, ONECase defines a 2-character Record Code Type for each Code. Selecting the menu option provides the Record Code Type. You can see the Record Code Type on the sample screen below.

The only data in Standard Codes is the Code itself and the 25-character Code Description.

Note that setting up some codes in Standard codes is a pre-requisite to setting other validation tables.
