TROUBLESHOOTING

“It will not let me sign on”

This symptom can reflect one of at least four different problems. Its like complaining about a 'stomach ache' B your problem could range from simple indigestion to something really wrong. You need to know the step in the sign on process at which the problem is occurring:

The Windows desktop?
The small, gray network sign on box?
The AS/400 'Sign On' screen?
The 'Validate Worker Sign On' screen?

When you click on the AS/400 on the Windows desktop, does/did the small, gray network sign on dialog box appear?

Yes. If this box appears, your network is up and ok. Key the AS/400 User ID and Password.
If the AS/400 'Sign On' screen appears, your ID and Password are ok. Key them again into
the AS/400 'Sign On' screen.

However, this box is redundant with the AS/400 'Sign On' screen. Your systems
administrator can change your computer so it does not appear. Ask her to do that for you.
Until that change is made, you will have to key your User ID and Password twice -- on the gray dialog box and again on the AS/400 'Sign On' screen.

No. If the AS/400 'Sign On' screen appears, your network is up and ok. Go to the next
question. If the computer stays on the desktop, the network is probably down B especially if
no one else can access the AS/400 >Sign On= screen either. If anything else happens other than remaining on the desktop or going to the AS/400 screen, you have a problem too
complex for this guide to explain B contact your Administrator or Cox & Company.

When you click on the AS/400 on the Windows desktop, does/did the AS/400 'Sign On' screen appear?

.
Sign On
System . . . . . : S1011CDR
Subsystem . . . . : QBASE
Display . . . . . : QPADEV0006
...
.

Yes. If the screen above appears, your network is up and ok. Go to the next question.

No. If no one can get to the 'Sign On' screen, the network is probably down. Tell your
administrator immediately. If other workers can access the 'Sign On' screen, the network is
ok. You have some other problem. Click the AS/400 icon again. If nothing happens, tell your
administrator that you cannot get past the AS/400 icon on the desktop. The administrator will
probably have to call a technical person or Cox & Company.

After you keyed 'User' and 'Password' on the 'Sign On' screen, does/did a ONECase screen
appear?

Yes. You signed on to the AS/400 successfully. Go to the next question.

No. The AS/400 gives you a message indicating the problem. Tell your what the message
says. She can fix the problem.

Invalid User ID 'User XXXXXX does not exist'
Invalid Password 'Password not correct for user profile'
User *DISABLED 'User profile XXXXXX cannot sign on'

When you selected an option from the menu, did the 'Validate Worker Sign On' screen appear. Did the problem occur when you attempted to key in your ONECase password?

.
CS0201?1 Validate Worker Sign On 3/28/97
INPUT 9:21:01

Please Enter Your Current Password.......

...
.

Yes. Your ONECase password is probably invalid. Ask your systems administrator to give
you a default password, then try again. You will have to change the default password to a
permanent one.

No. You signed on successfully. You may not be authorized to use the menu option you
selected. Talk to your supervisor or the systems administrator.
